Decal no. 302 will letter one SP&S 23500-23575 series wood chip car and includes the large SP&S letters on the side extension. This group of cars was converted from the SP&S 23500 series gondolas in 1960-61 by the addition of 6 foot 8 ¾” extensions, and they continued in service until the merger. An article about these cars was published in the TNOR issue #2 of 2005. An equipment drawing is published in book “Freight Equipment of the SP&S” by Paul Hobbs. A model is sometimes made from the (out of production) Sunshine resin kit no. 67.26 for the 13 post steel side gondola in the SP&S 23000 series. (Note: Your Society is working on a proposal to bring back this kit to production.) A stand-in model can be made from the Accurail 3718 or 37184 SP&S gondolas.
